Ottobock.care Names Taffy Bowman as National Residency Director, Leading the Next Generation of O&P Clinicians
Austin, TX – February 7, 2025 – Ottobock.care North America proudly announces the appointment of Taffy E. Bowman, CPO, FAAOP, as its National Residency Director. With nearly 30 years of experience in clinical orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) and a deep passion for mentorship, Bowman is set to lead Ottobock.care’s pioneering National Residency Program, furthering the company’s commitment to excellence in clinical training and patient care.
In her new role, Bowman will oversee the expansion and development of Ottobock.care’s residency initiatives, including the launch of the inaugural National Residency Rotation Program in 2025. This newly approved NCOPE residency option will provide residents with the opportunity to train at multiple Ottobock.care clinics across the country, gaining exposure to diverse patient populations, practice environments, and clinical specialties. The goal is to create a highly collaborative and supportive learning environment for residents, directors, and mentors across the Ottobock.care network.
“I am thrilled to be involved with the pioneering efforts of Ottobock.care’s National Residency Program,” said Bowman. “Having worked in clinical O&P practice for almost 30 years and having a passion for seeing residents succeed, this role feels like the perfect culmination of my experience and dedication to the profession.”
Bowman’s extensive background in patient care, clinical management, and mentorship makes her uniquely positioned to lead Ottobock.care’s residency program. Throughout her career, she has trained and guided numerous young clinicians, fostering a commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care. She continues to serve as the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional Clinical Manager for Ottobock.care and the Residency Director for local positions in Pennsylvania and Maryland, while also taking on a national leadership role.
As Residency Director, Bowman aims to establish a premier residency experience rooted in excellence. Her vision includes sharing best practices, creating networking opportunities for residents and staff, and aligning teams on new initiatives. She believes that residents play a crucial role in patient care, team dynamics, and overall business success, and she is dedicated to ensuring that Ottobock.care provides the highest standard of training in the field.
“Ottobock is known as The Human Empowerment Company,” Bowman explained. “While we often associate this with empowering the patients we serve, it also applies to our employees—including our residents. Empowering them to become successful clinicians and future leaders in the profession is what this program is all about.”
Bowman’s leadership aligns with Ottobock.care’s mission to advance patient care through innovation and education. With her guidance, the National Residency Program will cultivate the next generation of O&P clinicians by instilling a passion for excellence, fostering mentorship, and providing unparalleled clinical experiences.
